Hemp oil or CBD oil in a dropper

Hemp Oil vs CBD Oil: What Is the Difference?

Saying there are a lot of hemp and CBD products on the market would be an understatement. From edibles and topicals to beauty products, there are many uses for both these types of extracts. And then, of course, there’s the classic hemp seed oil and CBD oil.

But what’s the difference between hemp oil and CBD oil? Is there even a difference between CBD oil and hemp oil?

We’re here to answer all your questions on the difference in hemp oil and CBD oil once and for all.

Are Hemp And CBD The Same?

There’s a lot of confusion around these two products because many people use them interchangeably. However, they are two distinct extracts with different benefits that may sway you to choose one over the other.

Hemp Seed Oil

One of the main differences between hemp oil and CBD oil is how they are harvested. The former is derived from the seeds of the Cannabis sativa plant, commonly called a hemp plant. The seeds of the hemp plant are cold-pressed to create an oil that is high in fatty acids and antioxidants.

Hemp seed oil does not contain THC and has little to no CBD. This means industrial hemp oil is rarely used for recreational purposes but can be added to nutritional products (hemp milk, yogurt, etc.) while the fibers are used in manufacturing. Hemp extracts are also commonly used in beauty products because of their antioxidant properties.

CBD Oil

CBD oil, on the other hand, is extracted from the hemp plant’s flowers and leaves and can be diluted with other oils like coconut or even hemp seed.

There are three kinds of CBD oil you can find on the market, though some manufacturers use them interchangeably:

Full-Spectrum CBD: Contains all compounds of the cannabis plant and low levels of THC.

Broad-Spectrum CBD: Contains several compounds, but usually no THC.

CBD Isolate: Contains only CBD

Many people use CBD-derived products for their potential health benefits and may use full-spectrum CBD oil for its psychoactive side effects. Overall, this type of oil can contain small amounts of other cannabinoids and terpenes that can affect the user experience.

WHICH TYPE OF OIL IS BETTER?

Whether you choose to use hemp seed oil or CBD oil is ultimately up to the individual. It depends on the types of benefits you want to experience and how you want to utilize the oil. For instance, if you want to create beauty products with no THC, hemp oil is ideal. On the other hand, CBD oil is best to possibly help alleviate pain and calm your nerves.
